A Second Chance

Just a thought.....


life can be cruel
people can be unfair
happiness seems far and scattered
so they say
but I beg you to believe in your heart
that someONE is listening
to our whines and cries
that someONE does not have the heart
to see our sorrow prolonged

you and I deserve a second chance
more if we so desire
after all life is only being measured by years and months
lessen by the hours we get stuck in traffic jams
lessen by the moments we are drunk
lessen by the minutes we bite each other

a second chance is our hope
to make things right
to forgive and forget
to stand tall and erect
would we be stupid enough
to let it slip without a fight?
